Passive Voice of Modals

पिछले ब्लॉग पोस्ट में हमने सीखा Active voice को Passive voice में कैसे बदला जाता है। जो कि कोई कठिन काम नही है। अब बस छोटा सा काम और बचता है Modals की Passive Voice कैसे बनानी है लेकिन उससे पहले ये समझना ज़रूरी है।

इसका एक सरल सा नियम हमने Modals पढ़ते समय सीखा था।

Subject + Modal Auxiliary Verb + V1 + Object.

लेकिन जब हम इसका PASSIVE VOICE बनाते है तो यह Rule थोड़ा सा बदल जाता है। Modals का PASSIVE VOICE बनाते समय भी OBJECT को सबसे आगे लिखा जाता है इसके बाद उस Modal Verb को लिखा जाता है और उसके बाद be लगाया जाता है और मेन वर्ब का तीसरा रूप (Third Form) प्रयोग किया जाता है।

Object + Modal Auxiliary Verb + be + V3 + by + Subject.

NOTE –  जब  PASSIVE OBJECTS जैसे: One, Someone, Anybody, Nobody, Police, People, Us, Them आदि का प्रयोग किया जाए तो इन सभी OBJECTS को नही लिखा जाता है। तब STRUCTURE में से भी इन्हें हटा दिया जाता है ।

Object + Modal Auxiliary Verb + be + V3 + O.W.

A.V – I can please her.
P.V – She can be pleased by me.

A.V – We can send him there.
P.V – He can be sent there.

NEGATIVE SENTENCE EXAMPLES :

Object + Modal Auxiliary Verb + not + be + V3 + by + Subject.

A.V – You should not do this work now.
P.V – This work should not be done by you now.

A.V – We can not sell it.
P.V – It can not be sold.

INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE EXAMPLES :

Modal Auxiliary Verb + Object + be + V3 + by + Subject.

A.V – Are they going to call us there?
P.V – Are we going to be called there?

A.V – Can the police check our car?
P.V – Can our car be checked?

Practice by Yourself

A.V – We must help the poor.
